Mike has spent his entire career in sports related industries.
His energy and ability to see both the big picture and the minute
details have made him a sought after consultant to companies looking
for strategic advice on sponsorship and hospitality programs.
Starting at Athletes and Artists Inc. in New York City, Mike grew
with the company as it went from a small sports and broadcasting
agency to its incarnation as The Marquee Group. Eventually the
company evolved into SFX Entertainment where it became one of the
largest sports marketing firms in the world. Working with the
President of SFX Hockey, Mike dealt with some of hockey's biggest
names through a broad range of activities including contract
negotiation, ongoing relationship management, marketing, research,
and preparation of arbitration briefs.
Mike's first live taste of the Olympic Games was in Atlanta. Two
years later he returned to Canada and began working for the Canadian
Olympic Committee ("COC") in Sponsor and Athlete Relations. His
primary responsibility was the lead-up to the 1999 Pan-Am Games. His
role changed as the COC became more focused on marketing initiatives
and was promoted to Director of Marketing. In this position, Mike
lead all apsects of marketing including long-term budgeting, sponsor
servicing, and the re-launch of the COC brand. He also worked with
Roots Canada on the design, brand look and feel, and sales strategy
for the 2004 Athens Canadian Olympic Team clothing line.
After leading the COC's sponsor hospitality programs for the 2002
Salt Lake and 2004 Athens Games, Mike left the COC to join its
hospitality partner, Jet Set Sports Inc. As Managing Director of Jet
Set Sports Canada Inc., he opened their Canadian office and oversaw
all aspects of day-to-day operations. He also worked closely with
